Not Every Gynecological Experience Feels Safe...

Giving birth, surgery, pelvic exams, biopsies, painful procedures, repeated dismissal, or medical experiences that felt rushed, forceful, or left you feeling like you had no choice can leave lasting imprints on both your pelvis and nervous system.

One of the most painful parts of gynecological trauma is that many women have been taught these experiences are simply something they have to endure. Painful exams, frightening procedures, or leaving appointments feeling powerless are often minimized as "just part of being a woman." Over time, many women begin to question whether their experience was really that bad instead of recognizing how deeply their body was affected.

Your Body Remembers What Your Mind May Have Learned to Dismiss.

Long after the procedure has ended, you may notice that your body still responds as though the experience is happening in the present. You might feel anxious before appointments, avoid gynecological care altogether, tense your body during intimacy, or feel disconnected from your pelvis. Perhaps you know your body is safe now, yet it doesn't fully feel that way.

In our work together, we gently help your nervous system understand that the experience is over. Together, we begin creating a new experience of gynecological care that feels grounded in safety, choice, and trust.

STEP 1

Together, we gently explore what happened and begin to understand how your body and nervous system responded to the experience. We create space to honor your body's protective responses and make sense of the ways your experience may still be impacting you today.

STEP 2

Through Somatic Experiencing, body-based practices, and compassionate exploration, we help your nervous system recognize that the experience is over.  We begin unwinding the protective patterns of tension, fear, and disconnection that may have developed during your experience. Over time, we rebuild a sense of safety, trust, and connection with your pelvis.
